School Council.

The Junior Leadership Team (JLT) at Greyfriars Academy is a group of  children who are elected by their classes to represent the views of all pupils and work together to improve their school. We follow a democratic process to elect each class representative and when conducting the election of key roles within the JLT, such as, Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Committee Leader and lower school liaisons.

Each class at Greyfriars Academy will have 1 or 2 representatives, that form part of the JLT, who meet at least once every half-term to discuss key issues that are important to the children. The creation of the meeting agenda is the responsibly of the JLT following a smaller meeting held with their own class or secondary classes they liaise with. The Secretary takes the minutes and the Chair and their Vice will lead the meetings.

JLT members will share their work with the Greyfriars Academy Local Improvement Team and have a higher level of input into the monitoring of the impact of the changes and improvements across the school.

Miss Sayer is passionate about supporting all of our JLT representatives, and wider school community, to recognise and talk confidently about their responsibility as role models, to exemplify meeting the behaviour expectations of our school (Safe, Ready, Respect) and to understand the importance of the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
