The Coat of Hopes

Last Friday, Sheringham class visited Kings Lynn Minster to learn about the Coat of Hopes. The coat is a patchwork pilgrim coat which has been developed, worn and walked by many hundreds of people since it made its way to the COP26, the UN climate summit in Glasgow in 2021. The coat is made up of pieces of blanket into which people have worked their griefs, remembrances, prayers and hopes for the place they call home.

We even learnt the Coat of Hopes song, which begins:

Ask me where I’m going.

Ask me what is my purpose.

Ask me what my name is.

They call me the coat of hopes.

The coat will continue resting on display at Kings Lynn Minster until 11th February, having walked there from Ely.
