The Fairy Queen
Last week, we were privileged to be joined by Cherry and Hattie from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. This was in preparation for our trip to the Cron Exchange in October to watch and participate in their performance of The Fairy Queen.
In the performance, the children will play the role of the Sprites (the cheeky magical creatures found in the forest). This is what they will sing:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
A midsummer night’s dream
A party for the fairy queen
We gather before the setting sun
And now this magic night has begun.
Ha Ha Ha
Ha Ha Ha! Hee Hee Hee!
We’re the magic in the trees
Ha Ha Ha! Hee Hee Hee!
You have wishes 1, 2, 3…
We are the tricksters and we like to play,
They won’t know which way is up or if it’s night or day!
We are the spirits and this is our game,
And after one night in the woods, you’ll never be the same…
Chaconne
Come and dance with me,
Come and dance with me,
Spin around the room, won’t you sing this tune with me?
Come and dance with me,
Come and dance with me,
Spin around the room, celebrate the moon – Hail the Queen!
Hush No More
Hush no more.
Hush no more.
Be silent, be silent, be silent all.
Stant Up Tall
Stand up tall and breathe in deep
Love is not a secret that you have to keep
Go tell it on the mountain, shout it from the roof
You don’t have to hide it, tell the truth.
Tell it on the mountain, shout it from the roof.
Tell the truth, tell the truth.
All Salute the Rising Sun
All, all, all, all,
All salute the rising sun.
All, all, all, all
All salute the rising sun
Tis that happy, happy day
Tis that happy, happy day
Tis that happy, happy day
The sun will shine on everyone,
The sun will shine on everyone.
